Spring Cleaning Time for Your Pool!
Spring is just around the corner and it’s time to think about cleaning up the pool. Before you have your pool opened, you want to clean up your yard. Whether you open the pool yourself or have a company do it, the less debris and stuff in your yard, the better. The debris can easily become airborne and get into the pool which can contribute to more dirt, algae growth, or pool damage to the shell. Even if the debris does not get into the pool, its existence in the yard can become a hazard to the person or people opening your pool. So the cleaner your yard, the easier the pool opening will be.
If your pool is covered, you want to make sure you get all the debris and water off the cover. If you don’t, all of the stuff can get into your pool, making it dirtier. This can also increase the man hours required to get the pool clean. If you have standing water on your cover, a cover pump can get it off. If you have large debris, gently remove it as to not cause damage such as rips or tears to the cover. BE AWARE not to use metal brushes or other tools that can easily rip the cover. If you have a blower and can blow the debris off the cover, it will make easier retrieval of the debris from the ground.
Once the yard and cover are cleaned, it is time to clean the pool. You need to decide who and how you want your pool cleaned. Manual vacuuming can take many hours depending upon how much debris is in your pool. If you want to cut down on that, you may want to consider removing some of the debris yourself. Something else to consider for the season, is an automatic cleaning system. This can help cut down on labor costs, save time, and ensure a continually clean pool in between visits.
