Lifeguard #1  (recognition)

  1. Give one (1) long blast of the whistle to alert other staff of an emergency and to clear patrons from the pool.
  2. Effect the rescue.
  3. Give first aid if necessary.
  4. Complete Incident Report immediately.

Lifeguard #2  (reaction)

  1. Clear pool if necessary and maintain patron control.
  2. Inform patrons of situational needs (EMS, etc.).
  3. Assist Lifeguard #1 if necessary.
  4. Recruit additional assistance if necessary.
  5. Notify your supervisor.
  6. Notify parents/guardians if necessary.

Patrons  (assistance)

  1. Call for assistance (EMS, etc.) if necessary.  Emergency phone numbers and site address are posted near the phone.
  2. Assist Lifeguards if necessary
